Suraj Sodha has had phenomenal success with a rather unusual marketing channel; group buying discount sites. Sites such as Groupon are typically reserved for consumer sales businesses such as Day Spas, Hair Salons, Restaurants and the likes, never before have I seen them used by an Internet Marketer.  Suraj’s Groupon Marketing Strategy is innovative and he reveals all in this podcast.

Listen here;-

James Reynolds asks Suraj Sodha to lift the lid on his Groupon Strategy and he delivers. Covered in the interview;

  • The type of businesses Groupon marketing is suitable for.
  • The exact steps you need to go through to get our own offers listed with Groupon.
  • The mistake he made and what you need to do to avoid them yourself.
  • How to turn your Groupon buyers in to life long customers.

Great Job! I liked the line “Groupon should be used as a lead generation tool for businesses rather than a sales channel” …. I have never thought of it like that. This gives perspective on the right way to use Groupon.

Thank you for this awesome interview guys. I love to hear success stories like this.

Suraj Sodha

Thanks for arranging this interview, James. I love talking about our experience with group buying and am more than happy to talk about it to help show other online marketers how we used it to sell a somewhat typical local business IM product.

@Steve – thanks for your kind words, i’m glad you got value from listening :)

James

It was great to have you share your experiences. This is a very interesting strategy and I can see many applications for the smart marketer

What a smart way to approach lead generation. I’ve been trying to break through with KGB Deals but have not had any luck so far.

Thanks for the useful insights. I’ll be adopting the strategies you mention in your podcast. Do you have a product on this topic Suraj?

Thanks bro

Stewart Alexander

Guys,

Do you think an online webinar for hobby bloggers looking to make some extra cash from home would be a viable concept for a Groupon deal?

Thanks

James

Hi Stewart,

Suraj will be popping by to answer your questions. Glad you enjoyed the podcast

Hey Stewart,

Thanks for the positive comments and glad you took some value from the interview. Sorry it’s taken a few days to get back to you – i’ve been travelling.

Just a sidenote: if you do a deal with Groupon they will insist on exclusivity so you won’t be able to use KGB, living social or any of the other group buying sites.

I don’t have a product about this strategy and probably won’t create one to be honest, but happy to answer any questions you have here or through my online marketing coaching forum.

Re hobby bloggers making money online – that was what our workshop was on but it was offline rather than a webinar which i’m not sure would be accepted (but i’m happy to be proven wrong!!). It was pitched as a ‘use social media and blogging to make money from your hobbies and passions’ type workshop.
