I am often asked “how do I build small business website that sells?
This was the topic of my presentation at the You Learn Twit Face conference in Dubai this weekend, where I discussed with the audience of over 400 people my 3 key secrets to creating a website that generates more customers, sales and profits for your business:
Secret 1 – Create A Direct Response Website
There are actually 2 types of website, a “branding website” and a “direct response” website.
The aim of a branding website is that it builds the “brand” of your business in the hope that eventually people will become aware enough of your brand hat they will start buying from you. This is a risky strategy and takes time and money.
A direct response website on the other hand is designed to get people to take action now, either to order a product, subscribe to a mailing list, phone your business or any other action you want someone to take.
Secret 2 – Capture The Name And Email Address Of Prospects
If you collect the name and email address of people using an opt in form on your website you can market to them for free. Whenever you want to advertise–whether you’re having a sale, introducing a new product line, or just want to remind people about your services–you simply send out a single email and it instantly goes out to everyone on your mailing list.
Secret 3 – Follow Up With Your Prospects Regularly
On average your prospects need to see your advertising 7 times before they will buy from you. This used to be very expensive using traditional advertising methods, however now with the internet and email software such as Aweber or Constant Contact you can do this much faster and practically for free
